We are pleased to confirm that VOV Academy has signed on to the CWELCC program and has finalized enrollment this fall. Through the CWELCC program, more families will be able to experience VOVs Montessori curriculum and high-quality care in a manner that is affordable, inclusive and sustainable. Before any rate reductions can be realized, all operators need to be enrolled into the CWELCC program. Due to the complexity and size of this project, operators have recently been given an extension until November 1, 2022 to submit an application. At time of publication, VOV Academy has submitted application to York Region and we are starting to progress to the contract phase. Signed contract agreements on both sides are in place and we are in receipt of the funding. We are in the process of reimbursing the families. We continue to update our clients regularly.
On March 28th 2022, the Provincial and Federal governments announced an agreement to fund licensed childcare with a goal of reducing fees to an average of $10/day per child by 2025 under the Canada Wide Early Learning and Childcare program (CWELCC). The key objectives of this program are to lower childcare fees for eligible children, improve educator wages and increase access to quality childcare programs.
This first phase of rebates will amount to 25% of the current fees retroactive to April 1, 2022. Beginning in January 2023, the CWELCC program calls for an incremental 25% discount totaling to a 50% reduction of base fees.
Once government funding is in place, in September 2024, there should be further fee reductions. The ultimate goal should be reached by September 2025/March 2026, with the minimum full fee of $10/day (families may still qualify for childcare fee subsidies, and with their daily rates considered the provincial average will be $10/day).
Families of children aged 0-6 years registered in licensed child care centres (for profit and non-profit) that have enrolled in the system are eligible for CWELCC. The cost for Kindergarten children will be subsidized until they have completed their Senior Kindergarten year. VOV Academy is fully committed to the CWELCC system and its implementation.
